Ater 25 years, Michaela Majoun is hanging up her headphones. And picking up a pen.
The longtime DJ on alternative station WXPN-FM announced Wednesday that she will leave the station on June 30 to pursue her career in writing.
Majoun has presented music and features, including the Women’s Music Hour and arts and cultural coverage, for the past 25 years, and has served as an interviewer and alternate host for the station’s national show, World Cafe, since it began.
Majoun studied screenwriting in Los Angeles and worked on the television show Designing Women prior to moving to Philadelphia.
She is currently writing a screenplay to submit for a fellowship and developing a television series based on the work of a New Orleans historian.
